“It used to be the shoes that make the man. These days, it’s the handbag that makes the woman.”
I woke up with a vicious stomach ache and turned the TV on to get my mind off of it only to tune into E! and they’re talking about SHOES! Louboutin’s, Jimmy Choo’s, Manolo’s, ahhhh, shoe heaven. Then they go on to talking about BAGS. Oh man. I’m doomed right there. They start relatively tame with Chanel, going up to their holiness themselves: Hermes. And of course the most expensive handbag in the world, 1.6 million dollar diamond encrusted handbag that doesnt look big enough to put an iPhone/Blackberry in. Right there is why no one has yet to snag it up probably. I’d love me a Birkin someday though.
Life is short and I hope to enjoy those “little” things like a really expensive handbag. They are something you can hand down to children or if you’re going to keep them in good enough shape you could potentially make some decent money on your INVESTMENT in the future. Chanel & Hermes hit me as probably the best to invest into (maybe cause they’re my faves), but they will ALWAYS be classic. Chanel is a bit more available than Hermes who only makes around 5 bags a week. A WEEK. All by hand, each bag its own ONE maker. If thats not perfectionism I don’t know what is. Though your significant other might not be so happy about what’s coming out of the bank today to go into a bag, you’re investing! Great bags, like wine get better with age..as long as you dont wear it to shreds that is. Treat your investments with respect.
Look at Grace Kelly with the bag named after her…almost ironic, but still. Today the Kelly bag is still one of the most popular styles today. I mean really thinking about it, there isn’t going to some sort of 360 degree change in the fashion world that says that the Kelly or Birkin is going to be completely out, EVER. You can say the same thing about the Chanel Flap. They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and if you are so lucky to have one, or both.. or more than one of either, enjoy every single one. I hope to one day follow in your footsteps.
I love the quote, and if thats really the case I think I’m set for a while. Chanel is my next investment with out a doubt, but with college its going to be a LOT of saving, but ill make it happen… someday!
Invest in many things: stocks, bonds, bags, tech, family, love and life. <3
**Disclaimer: You should NEVER put yourself into debt over a handbag. Though tempting, it will mean more to save up and work hard for something. Instant gratification wears off VERY quickly**
